Learning Outcome 5

Description

You are aware of your own strengths and weaknesses, both in the field of ICT and in your personal development. You choose actions in line with your core values to promote your personal growth and develop your learning atitude.

Action

I actively worked on identifying my strengths in creativity, UI/UX design, communication, and teamwork, which helped me contribute innovative ideas during our group project. When I realized I struggled with receiving specific feedback, I made a conscious effort to approach teachers for more detailed and actionable advice, particularly asking for feedback on my portfolio design. I implemented the suggested changes by refining fonts and rethinking my sidebar/navbar layout to create a cleaner, more streamlined design. To strengthen my Media Design skills, I dedicated time to regularly practice tools like Adobe XD and Figma and experiment with their features. I attended Career Day to explore different path options for next semester, having conversations with multiple faculty members including Mr. Pieter about Open Learning and the Mobile App Development instructor about their program. After researching the Mobile App Development curriculum and its hands-on projects, I made my decision for next semester. Following my second portfolio review, I participated in a semester coach discussion and took the 16Personalities test as recommended to gain insight into my work style and strengths.

Feedback

When I asked for feedback on my portfolio design, I was advised to refine the fonts and rethink the sidebar/navbar layout to improve user experience, which was one thing I got a lot of feedback about and wanted to get it spot on. During Career Day, the Mobile App Development instructor outlined the semester's projects, which aligned closely with my interests and career goals, making me much more engaged compared to other options. Mr. Amer recommended a semester coach discussion after my second portfolio review to further refine my learning outcomes. During our conversation, he encouraged me to incorporate more of my personality into my reflections, emphasizing how personal traits can shape professional growth, and suggested taking the 16Personalities test for better self-awareness.

Reflection

This entire process helped me develop a stronger learning attitude where I've become more reflective about my progress, adaptable to challenges, and proactive in seeking ways to grow both personally and professionally. I learned the importance of actively seeking specific feedback rather than waiting for it to come naturally, which significantly improved my work quality when I implemented the design changes. The career exploration process taught me to thoroughly research programs and speak with multiple people before making decisions, ultimately helping me feel confident about choosing Mobile App Development for next semester. While I'm generally skeptical of personality tests, I recognized their value in fostering self-awareness, especially in understanding how my natural tendencies might influence my design process, collaboration, and problem-solving. Looking back at this whole journey from day one to the final showcase, I can't believe how much I learned and grew as both a developer and team player - working with this group was genuinely fun because we clicked really well and everyone brought their A-game, and having such a cool project idea kept me motivated even when things got challenging. This experience showed me that everything I've been learning is pointing toward creative and technical work where I can help businesses build their identity and create user-friendly digital experiences, which perfectly aligns with my future internship goals.
